“We’re not allowed to run in the hall.” 「通路を走るのは校則違反だ。」

“You can’t take a cookie without asking Mom! It’s not allowed!” 「お母さんにきかないでクッキーをとるのはダメだよ!」


“Allowed” comes from the verb “allow”, but we most often use it to describe what we are or are not allowed to do. Children are especially concerned with what the rules do and do not allow.
