uehonmachi_feb4“All things being equal, I’d rather drive than walk.”

他のことを考えないで判断・選択するときは「all things being equal」や「other things being equal」ということがあります。

We sometimes say “all things being equal” or “other things being equal” to talk about a choice without thinking about other factors. In the example above, I would prefer to drive, but maybe in the end I’ll walk because it’s better for the environment. Or maybe I’ll walk because I’m going with my friend, who prefers to walk.
